Putting Network Engineering to Work for the Navy

Commercial Ethernet Gateway (CEG)

The Commercial Ethernet Gateway (CEG) is a 10-year lease contract vehicle aimed at modernizing the Department of Defense's (DoD) communication infrastructure. It serves as an efficient on-ramp to the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN), offering highly available Ethernet Virtual Private Line (E-VPL) connections at competitive rates. By replacing older, lower-bandwidth circuits with higher-capacity options, CEG accelerates the transition to cloud-hosted services and realizes cost savings.

AGE Solutions is leading the way with our proven approach to assist the Department of the Navy (DON) and 4th Estate agencies in transitioning to CEG. Our deep understanding of the implementation process and stakeholder dynamics enables efficient resource allocation and risk mitigation. We use documented, measurable processes that have been matured through our work on the U.S. Navy Circuit Engineering and Implementation Support Program. AGE solutions engineers are responsible for the survey, design, planning and implementation of major network upgrades at over 150 locations. This includes assessment of both the physical and logical network topologies and subsequent design and engineering work to optimize the environments including cable plant (inside and outside) and environmental constraints (space, power, HVAC). In addition to supporting the Navy’s fixed environments, our team is currently developing a modernized solution for delivery of ultra-low frequency emergency action messages worldwide to subsurface and aerial vessels, arguably one of the most critical messaging systems in the Department of Defense.
